How do you changed your buddy icon on aim to a gif (that accually is animated)?

ok, I've been trying to upload this GIF, as my buddy icon on aim, and I go to ';upload picture';, then it click ';choose a picture';,then I chose my gif and crop it (like you always have to), and then when I'm done, all it shows is a stand still image of my GIF, no animation, even when I chat with people. I don't know what the problem is, I mean it clearly states when you upload something aim says ';Supported picture formats: JPG,GIF,BMP, or PNG';

So why isn't it working ??How do you changed your buddy icon on aim to a gif (that accually is animated)?
I guarantee you that aim does not support .gif files as a picture. Chances are they accept files like .jpg, .bmp, ect...
